Italy routinely exports more wine than any other country. However, much of it is bulk wine, sold for blending elsewhere, and until the 1970's, little of the country's best wine was exported. However, Italy is finally showing its full commercial potential, and Italian winemaking facilities are some of the most modern in Europe.
